Welcome to Puerto Rico

El Morro

Puerto Rico has much to offer visitors. The Island culture is molded by Spanish, African, Indian and U.S. influences. Its infrastructure is as sophisticated as it is extensive, with more than 13,300 hotel rooms, excellent transportation and far-reaching support services.

For meetings and conferences, Puerto Rico offers the most sophisticated technology and telecommunications available anywhere in the Caribbean. Satellite feeds, high-speed Internet, video conferencing and many other services are readily available across the Island.

The Island is 100 miles (160 km) long and 35 miles (56km) wide, with a population of almost 4 million. The city of San Juan boasts the greatest population - 1.5 million residents. Other major urban areas include Ponce, Mayaguez, Caguas and Bayamón.

Puerto Rico's average temperature is 82°F (28°C). Trade winds keep coastal towns cool and the temperature decreases as you travel higher into the mountains.

As a U.S. Commonwealth, no passports or visas are required for U.S. visitors. Foreign nationals should have valid passports and visas as required. The Island uses U.S. currency, phone and mail services. Both English and Spanish are official languages.
