During the spring and summer 2008, the Puerto Rico Convention Bureau conducted a shipping study to measure procedures and compare costs. The study included a survey to shipping providers (direct, freight forwarders, and overnight carriers) to determine costs for shipping a 10’x10’ exhibit booth to a range of different meetings and conventions destinations in the U.S. compared to Puerto Rico. In most cases, shipping to San Juan is comparable to other cities such as Miami and Seattle, while costs are lower than shipping to Honolulu, Hawaii.
As part of the study, the Puerto Rico Convention Bureau asked exhibitors who have shipped items to the U.S. Commonwealth about their experience and expressed high satisfaction levels. The study also compared shipping satisfaction levels among exhibitors that used an official carrier versus those that did not and found out that 100% of exhibitors who used an official carrier believed shipping to Puerto Rico was either the same as or better than shipping to other meetings and conventions destinations in the U.S.
If you have a meeting, convention, or tradeshow at the Puerto Rico Convention Center, we highly recommend contacting and interviewing any of these freight forwarders to select an official carrier for your event:
